Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Buyurchar (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you join our waitlist or get in touch, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We keep it short and plain because that’s how we’d want it explained to us.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we collect the details you give us in the form:

• your name;
• your email address;
• what you grow; and
• roughly how much biochar you need.

If you email us, we’ll also have whatever you choose to put in that message. We don’t collect anything you don’t hand us directly, and we never ask for sensitive information.

Why we collect it, and your consent

We use your details for one thing: to let you know when a new handmade batch is ready, plus the occasional useful note about using biochar in your patch. We only add you to this list when you tick the consent box on the form — that’s your opt-in. We won’t use your details for anything else, and we won’t sell or rent them to anyone, ever.

How you can leave, or change your details

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and one click removes you — no questions asked. You can also email hello@buyurchar.com at any time to see what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. We’ll action deletion requests promptly.

How your information is stored

We run our waitlist and send our emails through a reputable third-party email service provider. We’ve chosen a provider with proper security practices, and we hold your details only to contact you about new batches. By joining the waitlist you consent to your details being stored with that provider for this purpose.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as you’re on the list or we need it to answer your enquiry. We hold as little as possible, on purpose.

Cookies and analytics

This site doesn’t use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first and tell you what we’ve added.

A note on the law

We handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Spam Act 2003, including the rules on consent, identifying ourselves as the sender, and giving you a working unsubscribe. As a small business we treat these as the standard we hold ourselves to, whether or not every provision currently applies to a business our size.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. For anything significant, we’ll let waitlist members know by email.
